| | In 1989 guitarists Brent Wheatley and Tim Harris and drummer Jody Wheatley start, influenced by bands like Slayer, Iron Maiden, Metallica or Yngwie Malmsteen, Manifest Destiny. They were joined by Steve Bryant on vocals in 1991. In 1994 Manifest Destiny publish their first 6 song EP Brutality Of The Truth and a record deal signed followed by their debut album All Life All Minds in 1996. This band have been through some difficult times in their years of existence. First Steve Bryant died in a car accident and two years ago Brent Wheatley lost his fight against cancer.
For some reason I just got their last EP Your World Has Died from 2007. Normally I wouldn’t write a review from an EP that is more than one year old. But fans of Overkill, Pantera, Pro Pain and Sacred Reich may want to listen to this ‘honor EP’ from Manifest Destiny to their passed away band member, friend and brother Brent Wheatley who has played on this album.
The music is rough heavy metal in the style of the above mentioned bands. The vocals of Russ Pace fit just right by the music. Aggressive vocals by the songs with thrash metal and heavy metal influences. Great example is the song Take The Next Step where the band salutes Metallica with the riff from ‘Seek and Destroy’, but the arrangement of the song is completely different than ‘Seek and Destroy’. Another great song is the last track Outcry’07 with some fast guitar solo’s in it.
If you just like I didn’t know Manifest Destiny this might be an interesting EP for you. If you already knew them than you will notice that the song Outcry’07 was taken from their debut demo Brutality Of The Truth (1994) and their debut album All Life, All minds (1996) and the songs The One and Bury the Living are taken from their EP from 1999. But for me, as said before, it’s a nice first meeting with Manifest Destiny.
