The British band Vendetta are back with their second effort Heretic Nation. Two years ago I already reviewed their debut album Tyranny Of Minority. (You can read that one here ).
Again Edward Box and mates have wrote some nice decent hard rock songs in the vein of ‘Saxon’, ‘Judas Priest’, ‘Iron Maiden’. Traditional Metal it is. Again, like on the first album, the guitar riffs are in your head after one or two times listening, count with that the steady rhythm tandem and the pleasant voice of Edward himself and you will jump for joy if you like this kind of metal.

The opening track Delusion sets the tone for the rest of the album with a recognizable guitar riff and a great solo. Age of Annihilation is more faster with some twin guitar loops that reminds one of the mighty Iron Maiden. For New Horizon Vendetta has made a video just like they did from My Revelation. The instrumental track is called Skaro and here we can here that these guys can handle their instruments very well. This song has elements in it from Iron Maiden ‘till Thin Lizzy. Yes indeed, both bands from the Brirish Islands as well. On A Glass Half Empty and Killing Time the band goes loose. These two fast songs does remind one of Don Dokken’s better days, a long time ago that was. And the end shot is for the traditional metal song The Powers That Be which last for 7 minutes !

To end with some critique from the last album of whom the production was very flat, this new album sounds much better but in my opinion still not fat enough. I think that a killer production could have led through greater heights that Vendetta are reaching now with this new. But for every traditional metal fan it is still however a good record for your collection. I have enjoyed myself with it.

Go check them out on: www.myspace.com/nosafehole where you can also watch the videos from ‘My Revelation’ and ‘New Horizon’.
