Hello Tunisia! Myrath started as Xtazy and that band created the self produced album Double Face in 2005. They changed their name in Myrath and the album Hope was their first effort in 2007. That was a well received album by the critics and the fans of Prog Power Metal. Now in 2010 Lance King, the Voice of Rock, send me the new album from these Tunisian guys called Desert Call. And I can assure anyone who loved the first album ‘Hope’ that you can buy this new album blindfolded. For everybody who isn’t familiar yet with this sensation from Tunisia I will try to describe their music.

It is Prog Power Metal with Middle East influences. Technically brought to you at a very high standard. A great singer with the name Zaher, who is responsible together with guitar player Malek and keyboard player Elyes for the typical Middle East music parts in the songs.
This is not just the standard European Prog Power Metal with the epic sounds. No, my friends this is the Tunisian Prog Power Metal played for you by Myrath, with Zaher, who sings the English language even sometimes with his native accent. As you can see most of the songs are clocking above the 5 minutes, so that means there is a lot of room for instrumental passages, which are technical from a high quality. Listen for example to the title track Desert Call or Empty World and you will know exactly what I mean. Of course we also have the ballad which is Memories, and after that all hell’s breaking loose again with Ironic Destiny.

If you like bands like Dream Theater, Adagio, Angra and Pagan’s Mind this new album from Myrath is definately a must buy record. The guys have already performed on well known festivals as the METAL ROCK FESTIVAL (Norway) and PROGPOWER-EU (Netherlands).
It ‘s not a shame that you didn’t know them before you read this review, but it would be a pity if you would miss this album Desert Call.

You can hear some tracks on their myspace page of course, which is www.myspace.com/myrathband . You will not be disappointed by these Tunisian Prog Power Metal surprise of 2010.
