| | This American band already released three albums but I never heard of them before. With an existence for almost twenty years it’s about damn time to check out this Doom/Stoner band. In the nineties they released their self titled debut in 1996 and the follow up Lost In Hell in 1999. A few years later Nocturnal Revelation (2002) was released.
Seasons Of The Wolf play a mix of Doom and Stoner with the emphasis on strong, compact and catchy songs that together with the incredible voice of Wes Waddell sound almost hypnotic and suck you into the music immediately. Singer Waddell sounds like a mix of Zetro Souza (ex-Exodus) and Bruce Dickinson on valium.
Opener New Age Revolution and Magnetic Star are my personal favorites and probably would burn the house down when played live. Even a few up-tempo neckbreakers (Dead Zone and Transmission) are present and with two instrumentals Dance Of The Thousend Veils and Dark & Lonely Depths there is enough variation on this album to attract a variety of metal fans. Only point to improve for me would be the guitarsound. A more metal bite could be sufficient to really explode on cd. Besides the guitar, the keys play a big role too in the music of Seasons Of The Wolf, sometimes creating the right atmosphere and sometimes there is even a keyboard solo.
When you like a doomy sound, incredible mean and evil vocals than this is the band for you.
This band ought to play Europe sometime soon!!
