10. Coda | | | Twisted Into Form has been founded in 2000 by guitarist Kaj Gornitzka after he left the Norwegian tech-metal band Spiral Architect. The other members of Twisted Into Form are Extol drummer David Husvik, bass player Erik Aadland en de orginal Spiral Architect session vocalist Leif J. Knashaug. From the onset, it was agreed that the band's mission was to create music that fused the intensity of jazz/fusion and technical metal while conjuring extraordinary emotions through each musician's contribution. There were to be no boundaries, no limits — only music. Truly an ambitious plan. A big difference with Spiral Architect is that the band wanted to write real songs. So don’t think this is an album filled with just technical experimental playing because you would be dead wrong. What you will hear on this album are real songs with technical passages in them. That they sound like real songs is for a big part the doing of singer Leif J. Knashaug. He succeeded really well to give the many technical musical structures a vocal melody that you can recognize. It is this fact that makes this album a lot more enjoyable than the album of Spiral Architect. You can hear that the bands worked hard to make the choruses melodic and strong. Even though you can hear the influence of Spiral Architect now and then, this album, also because of the fantastic production, sounds so much better. This album has some great melodic songs like The Thin Layers and Lust and Love were you can easy spot some nice Cynic references. This is really a fantastic album. And I am going to enjoy this musical jewel for a very long time to come. A perfect album for all those who like the music of Psychotic Waltz, Zero Hour, Watchtower, Atheist, Cynic, Sieges Even, Spiral Architect and of course excellent and challenging metal; this album is a must! | Rating: 85 /100 | |
