| | Beyond Fallen is an American based heavy metal band, started in 2003 and recorded a demo and did some live appearances. In 2005 their first full length album Lost in the Shadows came out. There were some positive reactions about this album and the band planned some live shows to support the new album. Now in 2007 they found a label in the Dutch based Melissa Records to release their next album Mindfire.
On Mindfire you can hear they have influences from heavy metal acts like Iron Maiden, Dream Theater and Judas Priest, but Beyond Fallen also has a great own input. Singer Joe Karavis has a great voice and in some way he reminds me of Bruce Dickinson on his solo albums, listen to the song Closer to the End and you know what I mean.
Mindfire brings a great variety of songs, some are really thrashy like the opener Act of war and other are a bit slower like Mindfire to the sing a long song Enemy of an Open Mind. The guitarist also do a great job over here, some great riffs can be heard and the solo’s are just great. Tracks to watch out for: Enemy of an Open Mind, Closer to the End, Sniper and the great closing track Bomb inside your Head.
You can’t say Beyond Fallen is just another band who tries to copy some old heavy metal bands, though they have a real heavy metal feeling, they also put something new in it, which gives them their own sound in a modern way. Heavy metal fans should give this one a shot, also the US metal fans should try this one.
