| | Alerion was founded in the year 2005, after a while the line-up was completed and the band started performing in May 2006. During that show they only played one song of themselves but this was only the beginning. Unfortunately the drummer and the singer left the band, two new members were found. But the singer left again. With the first demo recordings coming near they had to find a singer very quick. These recordings resulted into Fledgling.
Fledgling, what a word, starts with the shocking intro of the song Hindsight (1976). After a few seconds the riff becomes more solid and then stops for a small bass solo. Which is very nice. A very good point to this demo is that the vocals are good hearable. In a lot demos that is a missed chance but you can hear Romys voice quite well. Somewhere I've heard a voice like this before, but I can't place it. Hindsight ends with a great guitarsolo and this can be a good livesong. “In nineteenseventysix”.
The intro/midtro Estrangement is a very slow and short ballad, which could have been an amazing albumintro. Nevertheless it is just a great balance between the louder songs. The riffs of Ruin are simply very good! And the varity in the song is awesome found! The last song of the band itself is Dragnipur, also a good metalsong. Straight riffs, nice drums and bassline, completed with a voice. The duet chorus is also very nice and catchy. The demo ends with the Megadeth cover She-Wolf. This song sounds a lot like the original, only a bit faster.
Progressive metal, well just say heavy metal. It might be clear that this is their first demo and that the vocals had to be sung in a way too short time. Nevertheless this is an amazing debut demo and really a band to keep in mind!
