| | Kerbenok from Germany is founded in the winter of 2000 by Stephan Drechsier and Christopher Duis. After releasing two demo’s and this EP, the band has a chance to reach out for a bigger audience with the help of a label. The label in crime is Northern Silence Productions.
In their biography I read that there is some good feedback from the media about this EP. And I must say that I’m also quite impressed by this release. Before I heard the first note, I was a little sceptic. A relative unknown band comes with a style that is rather populair these days. But what I hear surprised me. The three songs that we hear in a little more than 20 minutes have a rather strong structure. A good mix between harsh and cold raw black metal and modest and quiet accoustic passages and folky moments with traditional instruments like a flute. This creates the right atmosphere. Also the black metal parts has the needed tempo changes from mid-tempo to fast speed. The music sounds clearl because of a good and decent production.
I think this is a rather good and strong first release throughout a label and I’m certainly curious to hear what this band has to offer in the future.
