Kerbenok

01. Das Kalte Fuerer
02. Der Erde Entwachsen
03. Der Fall
Kerbenok from Germany is founded in the winter of 2000 by Stephan Drechsier and Christopher Duis. After releasing two demo’s and this EP, the band has a chance to reach out for a bigger audience with the help of a label. The label in crime is Northern Silence Productions.

In their biography I read that there is some good feedback from the media about this EP. And I must say that I’m also quite impressed by this release. Before I heard the first note, I was a little sceptic. A relative unknown band comes with a style that is rather populair these days. But what I hear surprised me. The three songs that we hear in a little more than 20 minutes have a rather strong structure. A good mix between harsh and cold raw black metal and modest and quiet accoustic passages and folky moments with traditional instruments like a flute. This creates the right atmosphere. Also the black metal parts has the needed tempo changes from mid-tempo to fast speed. The music sounds clearl because of a good and decent production.

I think this is a rather good and strong first release throughout a label and I’m certainly curious to hear what this band has to offer in the future.
